Being torn is torturous. Not knowing which way to turn and not being able to distinguish which emotions to feel and which ones to suppress furthers the anguish and creates a greater divide. Being torn is dark. Mending is difficult, and forces us to face the darkness before we can see the light. This piece represents the beautiful opportunity presented when we are torn. You see, it’s often not as bad as it feels. Most of the time, we’re not torn at all … we’re just stretched and focusing so much energy on making the right decision that it cripples us, and we feel torn.
